The City of Fort Worth has unfortunately become known as one of the mass shooting cities in the country. Over the past several years, Fort Worth, Texas has experienced a series of youth mass shooting in the impoverished black neighborhoods across the city (https://youtu.be/2bmXCEthN08?si=NyJtIqUb3cwOAqL5).
While black clergy and community leaders have expressed concern about the lack of treatment and resources for victims triggered by trauma caused from the tragedy of innocent children being shot and or killed by individuals who have no concerns about the sanctity of human life, our city leaders continue to express that crime is down overall in the city.
On May 1, 2023, six black children were shot on Las Vegas Trail and a 3 year old girl lost her kidney in the gun fire. Many in the community are still suffering from the economic depression caused by the pandemic and are now the children are suffering from adverse childhood experiences from mental health challenges associated with youth gun violence (https://youtu.be/SEWPMtDAztg?si=ewlKnr8FY7ZW5XDd)
