STOCKTON —

A bar and restaurant pegged as a local favorite in Stockton was the scene of a murder investigation after three people were shot and one died.

Cedric Purify was shot and killed outside Fats Bar and Grill on North Pershing Avenue just after 1:30 Sunday morning.

Dewayne Smart was with Purify at Fats and said his friend went outside and then the next thing he heard was gunshots.

The 26-year-old father to a young boy was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Central Valley Hurricanes football team where Cedric played for six years gathered Sunday to try to figure out how to get through this difficult time.

“We decided to get our players together and have a prayer here and be able to let them express how they feel,” said team owner Lori Mitchell.

The Stockton Police Department has no information on a motive or suspect.

Friends insist Purify has no history with gangs. They said his life revolved around his son and church.

Anyone with information on this crime is urged to contact the Stockton PD.
